October 3rd, 2025, Professional Components, Sidney, BC, Canada, a Vancouver Island-based manufacturer of Scoremaster goals has donated a soccer goal to replace the goal that was stolen from the grounds of Errington Elementary School.
The soccer goals are a popular part of the recess activity for the pupils at the school outside Parksville, and the theft of their Scoremaster soccer goal on the first weekend in June frustrated the pupils and the school management, who wanted to replace the goal, but had budget limitations.
The school’s plight was featured on CHEK News, and it immediately resonated with the Sidney-based aluminum sports goal manufacturer Professional Components, who provided the original goal. The president David Smith commented, “We are passionate about our place in the greater community of Vancouver Island, and the core values that we believe are integral to living on the Island. The theft of the goal from Errington Elementary School not only robbed the learners of their daily pleasure playing soccer, but it brought into focus a criminal element that no one wants to see on the Island.”
Smith quickly arranged for a new goal to be built, donated and delivered to the mid-Island school. It was formally handed over to the school on Thursday 25 September. “We hope this sends a number of messages,” said Smith. “To the pupils; keep on playing and enjoying the sport of soccer. Enjoy the healthy exercise and the benefits of playing a great team sport with your friends. To the thieves responsible for stealing the goal; our message is clear, as a community we will stand up against criminality and protect the values important to our community,” he added.
The original goal, provided to Errington Elementary School was provided by Habitat, the exclusive distributor of Scoremaster on Vancouver Island. “As the distributor of Scoremaster on Vancouver Island and across Western Canada, Habitat is proud to play a part in ensuring kids have inclusive and fun opportunities to be active,” said Adam Walsh, Habitat Systems Vancouver Island office. “Seeing the community come together to support Errington Elementary reminds us why play and sport matter.
